Cristina (Cha) Ramos is a multidisciplinary theatre artist devoted to telling underrepresented stories with a focus on the power of movement. Cha received her BA in Anthropology from Columbia University, focusing on performance in the Latinx Caribbean, and recently completed her MFA in Theatre at Columbia's School of the Arts, focusing on the dramaturgy of new play development, especially as it relates to writing violence and intimacy. She additionally studied Acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute, Playwriting with the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre Playwright's Unit, and Spanish Philology for a semester at la Universidad de Sevilla.
As an intimacy professional, Cha is invested in inviting artists into deep self-listening, consensual collaboration, and practiced autonomy. She has trained with IDI, IDC, and TIE, as well as multiple independent intimacy professionals. Her favorite intimacy choreography credits include a workshop of the new musical Weatherman directed by Chris Ashley (La Jolla Playhouse), an almost entirely nude production of Anne Carson's Antigonick with Torn Out Theater, and director Jonathan Seinen's production of Cabaret that centered an exploration of Queer Utopia (Columbia Stages).
Cha is the resident Intimacy Educator with Turn to Flesh Productions, a teaching artist with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators, and an independent instructor who delights in creating lessons at the intersections of multiple movement styles and theatrical modalities.
