Charlie Baker (he/him, they/them) received their BFA in acting from Oklahoma City University, and soon after relocated to Chicago where he currently works and resides. Charlie is the resident intimacy director of American Blues Theater and the University of Chicago, as well as the founder of the online platform Xploring Gender. Xploring Gender was created, while Charlie publicly came out and transitioned, to dispel myths and create educational material about the gender inclusive body; it has since blossomed into a thriving online rescource for a growing community of genderqueer performers and people, as well as their allies. Charlie has spent the past 5 years as educator and advocate for transgender and non-binary voices in theater, film and television from inclusion and diversity workshops, to consulting with productions and companies to find best practices.
As well as specializing in LGBTQIA+ stories on stage and screen, Charlie combines his years of work and training as a professional circus performerid and clown to bring consent education to the circus and immersive performance sphere, from training and performance to relationship with the audience.
